Friends, meet Kristen.

Kristen wears a lot of hats. You might know her as a gifted administrator, graphic design guru, or organizational genius, but do you know she’s the owner and baker behind The Monarch Cottage?

Brands that are borne out of a deeply personal and genuine passion are my favorite, and The Monarch Cottage is no exception. Kristen has loved baking for years and spent countless hours tweaking her recipes to perfection. After being diagnosed with Celiac disease, she shifted her focus to figuring out the secret to making the same treats with all the flavor and none of the gluten. Say goodbye to cookies that taste like cardboard and dry, crumbly cakes!

Sitting down to think through her brand was such a simple process, because this business is Kristen’s love language. She already had the bones – a consistent, personal theme from her logo to her packaging. We just needed to bring it to life with images that reflected the cozy, comforting vibe of this cottage bakery.

The Monarch Cottage is a cottage bakery, without a physical premises or commercial kitchen – so every cupcake, cookie, or muffin starts out in Kristen’s home. We found this beautiful rental in Englewood to set the scene: it was important that we got images that were bright and fit the neutrals Kristen picked for her brand colors, without sacrificing that home-kitchen feel.

Kristen has a remarkable ability to incorporate subtle details that take her baked goods to the next level. It starts with recipes that are tweaked and honed to perfection, and extends all the way to her packaging. It was important we got a few photos that capture those details!

If you’re craving some delicious gluten-free sweets, you can contact Kristen and place an order here. I’d also recommend keeping an eye on her social media (Instagram and Facebook) so you can take advantage of her specials!
